Q1. How much does the course cost?
A. The individual price is on our courses page, please check this as the price varies depending on location, food and accommodation availability.

 

Q2. Can I take a combined course?
A. The NPLQ and Beach Lifeguard courses are separate courses.

Training hours can be included towards the qualifications.

 

Q3. Is accommodation available?
A. Accommodation is available at many courses, self-catering, bed and breakfast and full-board.

Please check the latest courses and accommodation for more information. Accommodation is included in the price in some courses.

 

Q4. Do I need a wetsuit?
A. A wetsuit is required for all UK Open Water Lifeguard courses and beach lifeguard courses.

A wetsuit can be hired at some sites or brought on our website, please see our store.

 

Q5. What do I need to bring?
A. The NPLQ course would require you to bring. Swim wear (shorts and t-shirt to wear in the pool), towel, pen and paper/notepad, Photo ID, refreshments, course forms.

For Beach lifeguard courses - Wetsuit, wetsuit boots and gloves if you have them, swim wear, goggles, towels, warm clothing, writing materials, notepad and Photo ID. Please see our store for wetsuit and beach lifeguard wear.

For First Aid courses - practical clothing; casual wear and Photo ID.

All candidates would be required to perform CPR on the floor and casualty positions. Please dress suitable for this.

 

Q6. Do I have to have a good level of fitness?
A. The NPLQ requires a good level of swimming.

Open Water Lifeguard, experience is required in open water and a good level of fitness.

The Beach Lifeguard course is physically demanding, a high level of fitness is required.

 

Q7.  Are there any timed swims?
A. The NPLQ course - *20m swim, 20m tow within 65 seconds and 20m swim, 10m tow within 45 seconds

(goggles not allowed).

The Beach Lifeguard course - *400m in the pool in less than 8 minutes, 16 lengths of a 25m pool (goggles allowed).

The Open Water Lifeguard course - *20m swim, 20m tow 85 seconds and 20m swim 10m tow within 65 seconds.

Q8.  How old do I have to be?
A. For most qualifications you must be 16 on the first day of the course, except Trainer/Assessor courses, where you must be 18 on the first day of the course. Please see specific course information.

 

Q9.  How long does the qualification last for?
A. The NPLQ and Beach Lifeguard qualifications last for 2 years, 
Open Water Lifeguard qualification lasts for 2 years.

First AID at work - 3 years. All of the other qualifications please see course details.

Q10.  Who is the governing body for the awards?
A. The NPLQ, Open Water Lifeguard, First Aid At Work and Beach qualifications are from the Royal Lifesaving Society. (RLSS).

Our other courses and some First Aid courses and training have specific governing body's as detailed on the course specifications and or criteria.

 

Q11.  Where can I use my RLSS qualification?
A. The qualifications are internationally recognised and updates may be required by specific countries.

 

Q12.  Who are the examiners?
A. All trainers and assessors are Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) qualified, approved and hold the awards themselves.

our trainers are all DBS checked. They are approved by the specific awarding body.

 

Q13.  Is there a written exam?
A. There is a multi-choice question paper for most of the courses (learning difficulties taken into consideration) and the rest of the theory is either practical or completed with group work.

The specific course will state this on the course information and or criteria.

 

Q14.  What if I fail the NPLQ and OWL course?
A. You have 28 days in which to complete more training, this is from and including the date of the first assessment

and then you can retake that section. The NPLQ and OWL courses must be fully completed within 2 years.

If you fail the whole course, you must retake it all.

All other courses will state theirs on the specific course information.

 

Q15.  How can I make payment?

A. Payment can be made online through credit and debit cards. Please go to the page “Book online course” and select the relevant course.  If you would like to pay by invoice or direct to bank account, then please contact us via email.


Q16.  What NPLQ renewal information is required?

A. You will be required to have 20 hours evidence of your training hours, Photo ID and your current valid and in date NPLQ certificate of your qualification.

A. Our Courses Enrolment Form can be found at the top of the page "Book Online Courses".


Q19.  Is there any pre course information to look at and Gallery images and video's?

A. The pre-course information can be found on the designated course page.

Q20.  How do I register for a RLSS TAHDAH course as a new candidate? (login and course registration).

A. The booking and payment can be made here online.

Q22.  Where do we receive our NPLQ, OWL and all RLSS course certificates?

A. The course certificates will be sent to your individual RLSS Tahdah account;

upon successful completion of the specific course.

The other courses will be sent to the email address provided on your registration form.

This is usually within 14 days.



Q23. What can I use as Photographic Identification (Photo ID) for example?

A. Photographic Identification (ID) must be valid and can be in the form of; driving licence, identity cards, Citizen card, Pass card, passport, university or college photo ID card.
